Alberta Advantage

I have enjoyed the past couple of days being back in the best province in the world (well Canada is the best Country and Alberta the best province in Canada). However I have been wondering what is the actual best part of my province. Is it that there aren't any smog warnings yet we have a decent population? Is it the beautiful mountains mixed with the prairie fields? Maybe its the fact that I just got $400 for being born in a province with huge oil reserves and politicians who want to be reelected? Though I cherish all that has been mentioned the two things I love most about Alberta is that there is NO Provincial Sales Tax and AAA Alberta Beef. I don't know what it is but once you have grown up on the tender amazing beef of Alberta that nothing else in the world will do. No other province or states beef can ever compare. The no PST is very obvious....I save between 7-8%. So next time all you beautiful British Columbians, flat Sasks and Manitobans, over crowded Ontarians, French loving Québécois and neglected Maritimers wonder where the greener grass is...well now you know.

Coming Home

After a very eventful and fun filled term I was require to check in with my parents back in my hometown. Usually in my first returns I was happy, and eagerly waiting the day to be embraced once again by those who I left back home. This however was not one of those times. I had attempted to set up a plan to avoid this encounter however the day seemed like it couldn't be avoided. Before actually leaving to go home I had a nice talk with my housemates about my feelings of returning home. In the end the part that stuck out to me is that sometimes we go home for ourselves and sometimes go back for our loved ones. Having been home for a full week I know that our thoughts then were right; I was home because the people I love most needed me. Somewhere in between trying to discover myself and to explore life I had forgotten that my life might actually be important to someone else. That really we have no idea why it is we meet people and why certain things happen. The uncertainty is something that has always concerned and intrigued me. I know for sure that there is some reason for me to be home and hopefully i'll find out why.

Fireworks

I've never been been a fan of fireworks while growing up. Sitting and staring as a little firecracker get's lite up shot into the air on what must be a incredible high only to explode into pretty colors and then disapear. Sometimes leaving a little smog trail or some sparkle. However in the end really there is nothing left of it leaving the sky back to being empty and lonely.

Lately it seems that I've become draw to it for a reason I cannot explain. It's not like I don't know that the show will begin, there will be lots of pretty colors and combinations of fireworks which I admit can be both artistically pleasing and at times intriguing. Some even feature music to go along with it and other special effects. After a random time there will be a huge bang of multiple ones and then all is done.

Being a strong believer of the common saying Everything Happens For a Reason it does not confuse me why I have suddenly been drawn to fireworks. But rather why is it so hard to stop watching. Usually it starts without me actually knowing since I'm always attempting to multitask and just enjoy the enviroment. Once it starts it so fascinating that I find myself wanting to grasp and enjoy every moment of it. Only when I'm completely into it do I realize that the end is near and yet I still try cherishing every little moment. Only to end up shocked staring at an empty sky and after a few moments of being able to grasp that there is nothing left... the loneliness sets in. Only to think it was pretty and entertaining while it lasted too bad it was for such a short time.

Under the Weather

Today I woke up feeling a little under the weather, I don't really know why I said under the weather but I noticed while at my co-op job on Bay Street Toronto that it was bad manners to say that I was sick. I don't really know why this was but being the eager co-op student who wanted to excell in the business world I adopted the lingo. Thinking about it now I wonder why it is good business etiquette to blame the weather for my lazyness and coughing and fever. I would have thought that in the business world it would make more sense to be responsible for your actions and just say, my body is tired, week and in the mists of fighting a virus. Maybe blaming the weather has something to do with the fact it is un uncontrollable part of nature or maybe it is something that we can still bill for our time . Well either way I think its stupid blaming the weather for my body's white cells being a little week against whatever nasty thing it is fighting. So until my next co-op job (which is in like 3 weeks) I would like to make it clear:

No I'm not feeling under the weather; I am sick and I'll be under my covers if you want me.

Hurray, my first blog.
So I just came out of my first final exam for the term which I wrote in our main gym of the university. Like many others I suppose when you dont know an answer or are just bored of the exam we tend to look around. Something I noticed while I looked around include that the gym no longer had the usual athletic B.O. smell but rather a different smell. I figure it is probably the nerd B.O. I find it funny that during most of the school term athletes get to go to the gym and show off their skills and in some sense during final time the nerds in the same gym get to show off their ability. I can't think of another place where both the jocks and the nerds can boast thier skills. Also since we cheer for the athletes and encourage them in their endevors maybe the exam protectors ought to cheer for the nerds going nuts on a challanging exam.
