National Sports

Today is day 3 of the World Cup and there has been some awesome games. The one which I enjoyed the most is the Iran/Mexico game. Initially I didn't care much for either team but I was looking forward to see Mexico kill Iran since they had quite the stacked team. However I was blown away from the athleticism and amazing play of Iran. I kinda made me think how funny would it be if Iraq or Afghanistan had a team and was lucky enough to team a USA team. I think that would be crazy. Of course the Americans would say football is nothing play us in baseball or our football.

Also I find it hard to imagine countries which I see on TV devastated by famine, aids, and financial problems competing in thins like world cup. Shouldn't the government invest in the population rather than a sports team. I know its a touchy subject but I must say if for those rallying for the African debt to be eliminated I see no reason to do so when they can play tons of football and even make world cup over some of us who they owe money to. I think the government need to refocus before solution like those will ever go through.
