Mother's Day

I find most special calander days to be marketing schemes and that unless they are giving me a day off school or work they aren't very important. Today however I was reminded that there are some holidays which our society rightfull makes us remember. Its been a while since I've become a nomade and that usually means I get to miss most of the holidays and special occations. I don't nessessary have the best relationship with my mother, (who really does?) but I felt a little sad not being able to wake my mother and grandmother up with some sort of gift or at least a hug. Don't get me wrong I always remember to mail a card but its the human touch which is missing.
I think the movie Crash has it right. No matter who we are, what we do, or where we are going well all need feel the human touch. Special occations and holidays just help us get that from those we love but may accidently dift away from. Special occations keep us grounded.
