Office Gatherings with the Consultants

Today was the first of what seems to be many "Office Gatherings". Usually to me this means one thing, well two things I guess: 1. Free Food 2. Free Alcohol. Now this is definately the best part of working, things that are free. Well everything that is free is good in my opnion but thats a topic for another day.

At this gathering which was done on my behalf so I'd meet my project mates I felt the corporate pressure to drink. I believe this is a very common pressure that many people have felt whether you drink or not. I found it odd that our consulting group would still attempt to pressure us to drink. I mean all day we pressure clients to acquire our services, we pressure our bosses for extra time on projects, we pressure HR for better benefits so I was assuming that people would be tired of attempting to market things. However I have found that throught my last couple of jobs that those who are consultants are good at selling, its in their blood. So beware, they will try to get you to order food you don't want, join health clubs you will never go to, hell they will even try to pressure you to drink at a social event.
