Statues

Every city and especially every downtown area has corporate buildings, universities and/or tourist spots which have statues. I always find it interesting as to which particular statue a company decided to purchase. In front of my building (called commerce court) there is a statue of two jolly business men shaking hands. This statue seems to be both inviting and fitting give the name and environment the building represents. However a short distance away from the business men is this huge elephant. Why and elephant? Who knows? It doesn’t seem to fit the building or any of the businesses and I’m sure that it’s not there to enhance the environment because really elephants would freeze their asses in the Canadian winter. I would like to suggest that maybe they have a different animal which maybe suited better to the environment.

Another set of status which puzzled me where those found near the TD towers. Now most of the businesses in those buildings are financial related. Yet outside their court area they have a bunch of lazy cows laying down. COWS….. Hello Calgary is cowtown. Who thought of the bright idea to have cows in the middle of downtown Toronto? After being confused and angry that Toronto had Calgary’s cows I of course did what any other Calgarian would… took a picture of me riding the darn thing.
